As I write this, the cost of food in urban areas of developing countries is on par with the cost of food in my Washington, DC grocery store. Many of the families shopping for basic supplies; cooking fat, flour, some vegetables, meat (if they’re lucky), perhaps a bit of tea and sugar, are living far below the poverty level. Often, a family member is sick, which means the need for substantive nutrition is all the greater. Community leaders are at a loss as to what to do?
The World Food Program and other donors are decreasing food allocations in the face of rising costs and ever increasing need, across the board.
WWA encourages you help us find solutions for this, and many other challenges with community leaders. Together, we seek long term solutions, like “victory style” gardens in communities. These solutions, while interesting, require land purchases and inputs, which require funds that communities do not dare to dream for. We encourage you to help them dare to dream.
Please join us as we work with Community Leaders to find sustainable solutions for a brighter future.
