Board of Directors


An orphaned little lion heads this page in honor of the Kiswahili nickname given to Annette, WWA’s president.  She’s been known to advocate, somewhat ferociously on behalf of children in Africa. For her efforts, she’s occasionally called Simba m’dogo maupe, or little white lion.

Annette Donnelly

Founder.  Annette is a consultant who began a career in development while living in Nairobi, Kenya. Previous to working in development, she was a strategy consultant in the private sector. She consultants for the public and private sectors, specializing in trade and development, sourcing and facilitating production for Macy’s, Starbuck’s and O Magazine products.  Annette holds an MBA and a BSBA, she has worked in Afghanistan, DR Congo, Kenya, Kosovo, Madagascar, Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zanzibar


Patrick Donnelly, Ph.D.

Co-founder. Patrick is a consultant specializing in agricultural production, water quality management  and environmental science policy. He has advised governments, industry and non-profit stakeholders worldwide. Patrick received his B.S. degree in Resource Development from the University of Rhode Island and holds a M.S. and Ph.D. in Reproductive Physiology from West Virginia University. 


Margaret Hayward

Margaret is a consultant specializing in fundraising and the development of donor relationships and networks. She implements marketing and communication strategy for government and not-for-profit clients, managing major projects and events at the highest levels. Margaret has successfully networked organizations and people, cultivating formal relations with a wide range of international professionals.

Margaret served as a Senior Manager for Fund Development, a Special Advisor on International Affairs, and as Principal Administrator to the Under-Secretary General at the United Nations. She also served at Counterpart International, tripling the organization’s privately sourced funds. Currently Margaret consults for a private non-profit, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD). Founded by Dominican President Leonel Fernandez.


Ellen Hope Kearns, Ph.D.

Ellen is a professor and consultant focused on biomedical and health science development in the health-related professions. She has advised governments and not-for-profit stakeholders.  She is a nationally board certified specialist in clinical laboratory hematology by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Registry (ASCP) and holds a  Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Science from the University of Central Lancashire in the United Kingdom and a M.S. in Health Science from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, NY. Ellen is currently an emeritus professor of clinical and health sciences in the School of Health and Human Services, College of Professional Studies at California State University Dominguez Hills.


Gerald Prolman

Gerald is a serial entrepreneur with a 31 year history building and selling branded organic food product, agriculture and horticulture related companies with particular experience in rural cottage industry development and the establishment of ventures that join together for-profit and cause related business interests. He is the CEO of Wildlife Works Retail Inc., a retailer of casual apparel products that support wildlife conservation, community development and environmental stewardship in Africa and CEO emeritus of OrganicBouquet.com.  He brings long experience linking small holder farmers to successful commercial markets.
